Majdouline Idrissi
Majdouline Idrissi, born in Rabat in 1977 to Berber heritage, initially aspired to be a ballerina, beginning her ballet lessons at the tender age of four. At 16, she relocated to Montreal to pursue a degree in business management, where she serendipitously discovered her love for film after attending a theater competition with a friend.
Her cinematic journey commenced with a role in the 2003 film *El Bandia*, which quickly garnered a following among younger viewers. Idrissi's career continued to flourish with her portrayal of Habiba in the 2006 film *La Symphonie marocaine*, directed by Kamal Kamal. In 2009, she starred as Jamila in Souad Hamidou's *Camille and Jamila*, further showcasing her acting prowess. Her haunting performance as Rihanna, a patient in a mental asylum, in the 2010 film *Pégase* earned her critical acclaim, culminating in her first award for acting.
A significant milestone in Idrissi's career came in 2016 when she took on the role of Myriam in *Divines*, directed by Houda Benyamina. The film won the prestigious Caméra d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, solidifying her status in the industry.
