Jason Martorino

2 titles Acting

Jason Martorino embarked on his journey into performance at the age of 16, inspired by a drama teacher with a rich background in film and theatre. He initially enrolled in theatre studies at York University in Toronto, but soon transitioned to Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, where he pursued opera performance, merging his love for acting and music.

During his five years of intensive training in both disciplines, Jason honed his skills in singing and acting across various roles, from leads to character parts, collaborating with local theatre companies and eventually stepping into the film industry. His inaugural film project marked the beginning of a fruitful partnership with writer/director/producer Lyndon Horsfall.

Simultaneously, Jason made significant contributions to the theatre scene around Toronto, taking on lead and supporting roles in renowned classical and contemporary works, including Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, Coward's Present Laughter, Ryton's Crown Matrimonial, and Molière's The School For Wives.

Driven by a desire to stretch his abilities as an actor across different mediums, Jason entered Toronto's vibrant film and television sector, starting with commercials, public service announcements, and the web series Posthuman, where he was not only a writer and producer but also starred as the lead character, Charlie Porter. This project reunited him with Lyndon Horsfall, and together they created the music video Sundown for The Short Films, where Jason earned his first directorial credit. His career progressed with appearances in network television and supporting roles in feature films such as Kingdom Come and Synchronicity.

Based in Toronto, Jason continues to pursue challenging roles and seek new collaborative ventures.
