Josef Abrhám, a prominent figure in Czech acting, graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU). His theatrical career began at the Vinohrady Theatre, where he performed for three seasons before joining the Drama Club, where he garnered significant acclaim until 1992. He had a brief stint at the National Theatre but stepped away from the stage entirely in August 1994.

Abrhám gained widespread recognition through his compelling performances in film and television. His cinematic journey commenced in 1962 under the direction of Brynych in the film *Transport from Paradise*. He showcased his versatility with roles such as the expectant father in *The Scream* (1963) and the writer Jaroslav Hašek in *The Great Journey* (1963). A standout moment in his career came in 1989 when he portrayed the esteemed writer Karel Čapek in *Man Against Destruction*. Between 1990 and 1995, he was actively involved in various exhibitions organized by the Masaryk Democratic Movement, celebrating historical figures like T. G. Masaryk.

In recognition of his talent, Abrhám received a nomination for the Czech Lion Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2006. His personal life saw him married to actress Libuša Šafránková from 1976 until her passing in June 2021, and they had a son, Josef, born in 1977, who has four children. Abrhám's legacy endures in both his artistic contributions and family ties.
