Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, born on October 13, 1989, is a prominent American politician and activist, widely recognized by her initials AOC. Since 2019, she has represented New York's 14th congressional district as a member of the Democratic Party. Her district encompasses parts of the Bronx, sections of north-central Queens, and Rikers Island in New York City.

Ocasio-Cortez gained national acclaim in June 2018 when she triumphed in the Democratic primary for her congressional seat, unseating ten-term incumbent and Democratic Caucus Chair Joe Crowley in a stunning upset that marked a significant moment in the 2018 midterm elections. She subsequently secured victory in the November general election against Republican Anthony Pappas and has since been reelected in both 2020 and 2022.

At just 29 years old upon taking office, Ocasio-Cortez made history as the youngest woman to serve in the U.S. Congress.
