Russell Geoffrey Banks
Russell Geoffrey Banks has been captivated by the world of cinema since childhood, often reminiscing about how his father would leave VHS tapes recording on movie channels. Each time they met, his father would surprise him with a box filled with eclectic films to enjoy. However, Russell's academic journey took an unexpected turn when he was expelled from school at fifteen. This setback led him to explore a variety of jobs, including market trading, call center work, bartending in nightclubs, and construction.
Amidst these experiences, Russell pursued his passion for acting whenever he could, attending classes and writing screenplays in his spare time. A pivotal trip to Thailand introduced him to individuals in the film industry, prompting him to seek stand-in roles on U.S. productions to gain insight into acting and filmmaking. Over the next few years, he took on small acting roles and worked as an extra, learning from renowned actors like Bradley Cooper and Neil McDonough.
Upon returning to the UK, Russell honed his skills in Method Acting under the guidance of Sam Rumbelow. His breakthrough came with the lead role of Clayton in "Goodnight Gloria," a film he co-wrote with director Jack Everitt. Filmed in London during winter, Russell recalls the experience of staying with his friend Deanne Charles and living in a caravan on a travel site in Luton, which also served as a filming location. Throughout his career, Russell has consistently portrayed characters grappling with darker themes, ranging from morally ambiguous figures to mythological villains and serial killers.
