James Patrick Nelson
James Patrick Nelson is a multifaceted character actor renowned for his unique vocal quality and profound emotional range. His work encompasses a myriad of award-winning films, which have garnered acclaim on the festival circuit and enjoyed theatrical screenings across the United States.
Raised in Los Angeles, Nelson honed his craft at the Boston University School of Theatre. He launched his theatrical career in New York City, taking part in Off-Broadway productions of beloved classics by Chekhov and Shakespeare. Throughout his journey, he has shared the stage with notable talents such as Maggie Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard, and Ethan Hawke, among others.
A highlight of his career came when he received a nomination for an Innovative Theatre Award for Best Actor for his performance in the world premiere of "Old Familiar Faces" during the New York City Fringe Festival. Additionally, he and his ensemble were honored with the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Ensemble for their work in "Sense and Sensibility" at the Folger Theatre. He later reprised this role in Bedlam's production at the American Repertory Theatre. Most recently, Nelson starred in the world premiere of "Immortal Longings," the last play penned by the late Terrence McNally.
