Stuart Alexander Bennett, an accomplished English professional wrestling commentator, actor, and former wrestler, holds dual citizenship in the UK and the US. Currently, he is with WWE, serving as a color commentator for the NXT brand, where he is known by his ring persona, Wade Barrett.
Bennett first captured attention in 2010 when he won the inaugural season of NXT, leading to his main roster debut on Raw later that year. He gained notoriety as the leader of The Nexus, a notorious faction made up of NXT’s first-season rookies. In 2010, he headlined five major WWE pay-per-view events, including SummerSlam and Survivor Series, and came close to winning the WWE Championship on three occasions. The following year, he created The Corre, a brief alliance with former Nexus members Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel, alongside Ezekiel Jackson. Over the course of his career, Bennett earned the prestigious title of Intercontinental Champion five times.
In 2013, he reinvented himself as Bad News Barrett, a character known for his penchant for delivering unfortunate news. His career reached a milestone in 2015 when he won the 20th King of the Ring tournament, adopting the title of King Barrett. Despite retiring from wrestling in May 2016, he remained active in the wrestling community, taking on roles such as a commentator for World of Sport Wrestling and a general manager for Defiant Wrestling. Bennett also ventured into acting, making his debut in the 2013 film Dead Man Down, and has since appeared in several films, including Eliminators and I Am Vengeance. He returned to WWE in August 2020, continuing his commentary role.
