Shannon Young
Shannon Young embarked on his journey in filmmaking by producing feature-length horror films on VHS and directing grand stage productions during his high school years, earning multiple accolades for his efforts. He later pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts at RMIT, where he collaborated with James Wan—famous for the *Saw* franchise—to co-direct their inaugural 16mm feature, *Stygian.* This low-budget action-horror film gained recognition, collecting awards and screening at various film festivals worldwide, including the renowned Dead By Dawn in Scotland, where it was notably referenced in *Saw*.
Following this, Shannon directed the provocative independent film *Razor Eaters,* which attracted significant media attention due to a police investigation surrounding its intense themes. The film received acclaim, earning five-star reviews and enjoying theatrical releases both in Australia and internationally, along with numerous prestigious awards at various film festivals.
Currently, Shannon has secured representation with Concept Entertainment in Los Angeles and is actively developing a new horror screenplay. In addition to his filmmaking endeavors, he has shared his expertise by guest lecturing on independent filmmaking at universities across the globe and contributing articles addressing the ongoing discourse surrounding violent cinema. Shannon Young continues to make his mark in the film industry with innovative storytelling and a bold approach to filmmaking.
