David Lewis (October 19, 1916 – December 11, 2000) was a notable American actor, hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is widely recognized for his iconic portrayal of Edward Quartermaine on the long-running soap opera General Hospital, a role he held from 1978 until 1993.

Lewis made his mark in television history, with his first appearance on screen in 1949 as part of the series Captain Video and His Video Rangers. His impressive resume includes guest roles in seven episodes of Perry Mason and a recurring character as Warden Crichton in the beloved series Batman. In the realm of daytime television, he made his debut on Love of Life, playing a murderer, and later took on the role of Henry Pierce on Bright Promise. His talents also found a place on The Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives through brief guest appearances.

In 1978, Lewis joined General Hospital as Edward Quartermaine, a role that earned him a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Daytime Drama in 1982.
