Jacques Charrier
Jacques Charrier (November 6, 1936 – September 3, 2025) was a multifaceted French actor known for his contributions to both cinema and theater, as well as a talented producer and visual artist specializing in painting and ceramics. His high-profile marriage to the iconic film star Brigitte Bardot from 1959 to 1963 brought him considerable attention during the early years of his career.
Charrier's artistic journey took a significant turn in 1980 when he returned to the School of Fine Arts, immersing himself in artwork that reflected his deep love for travel and ancient history. His creations were showcased in esteemed exhibitions across cities such as Paris, Geneva, and San Francisco, highlighting his evolution as an artist.
He gained public notoriety again when he took legal action against the publication of Bardot's memoirs, winning a case for "violation of privacy," which reaffirmed his desire to protect his personal life from media intrusion.
Over the years, Charrier had notable relationships, including his marriage to Bardot, with whom he had a son, Nicolas-Jacques, before their divorce. He later wed France Louis-Dreyfus, welcoming two daughters, Sophie and Marie, before they separated. In 1982, he found love again with Linda, with whom he had a daughter, Rosalie, and since 2009, he shared his life with Japanese artist Makiko Kumano. Charrier resided in Paris from 1997 until his passing in 2025.
