Growing up alongside his three brothers—Ranganath Chowdary, Ramachandra Chowdary, and Krishna—and sister Vijaya, Mohan Babu showed an early passion for acting. He participated in school plays from the age of 14 while pursuing his primary education in Yerpedu village and later at S.P.J.N.M High School in Tirupati. Despite his father, a headmaster, advocating for an academic path, Mohan Babu's ambitions led him to Chennai.
In Chennai, he earned a degree in Physical Education from the YMCA College of Physical Education before turning his focus to cinema.
