Mohan Babu, born Bhaktavatsalam Naidu on March 19, 1952, in Modhugulapalem village, is a prominent figure in the Indian film industry. Located near the banks of the Swarnamukhi River, his birthplace is nestled between two renowned pilgrimage sites: Tirupati, home to Lord Venkateswara, and Sri Kalahasti, the abode of Lord Vayulingeswara, in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district. The name change to Mohan Babu came as he embarked on his cinematic journey.

Growing up alongside his three brothers—Ranganath Chowdary, Ramachandra Chowdary, and Krishna—and sister Vijaya, Mohan Babu showed an early passion for acting. He participated in school plays from the age of 14 while pursuing his primary education in Yerpedu village and later at S.P.J.N.M High School in Tirupati. Despite his father, a headmaster, advocating for an academic path, Mohan Babu's ambitions led him to Chennai.

In Chennai, he earned a degree in Physical Education from the YMCA College of Physical Education before turning his focus to cinema. His time at the Madras Film Institute coincided with that of superstar Rajinikanth, forging a lasting friendship between the two. Mohan Babu's early experiences and educational background laid the foundation for a successful career in film, where he would become a beloved and influential figure.
