El Kedwany's film career took off in the 1990s, and he starred in several iconic movies, including "Afareet el-Asphalt" (Asphalt Ghosts) in 1996 and "Saidi fe Gaea al-Amrikeya" (Saidi at the American University in Cairo) in 1998.
