Arda Turan
Arda Turan, born on January 30, 1987, in Istanbul's Bayrampaşa district, is a prominent figure in Turkish football. His journey began with the local club Altıntepsi Makelspor, where his exceptional talent quickly led him to join Galatasaray's youth academy at age 12. Arda's technical prowess and leadership skills propelled him through the ranks, and he made his professional debut with Galatasaray. He was loaned to Manisaspor for the 2005-2006 season, which proved instrumental in his development. Upon returning to Galatasaray, he emerged as a vital player and captain, clinching multiple titles including the Turkish Super League (2007-08), Turkish Cup (2004-05), and Super Cup (2008).
In 2011, Arda took a significant step in his career by transferring to Atlético Madrid. He became a key contributor under coach Diego Simeone, helping the team secure La Liga (2013-14), Copa del Rey (2012-13), UEFA Europa League (2011-12), and UEFA Super Cup (2012). A highlight of his tenure was reaching the UEFA Champions League final in 2014.
In 2015, he joined Barcelona, although a transfer ban delayed his debut. During his time there, he added La Liga (2015-16) and two Copa del Rey titles to his accolades. Later, Arda returned to Turkey, winning the Super League with İstanbul Başakşehir in 2019-20 before rejoining Galatasaray, where he eventually retired in September 2022.
A stalwart for the Turkish national team since 2006, Arda captained during the 2008 European Championship, leading Turkey to the semifinals.
