Coming from a diverse background, her paternal lineage traces back to Turkish immigrants from Greece, while her maternal roots lie in Bulgaria and Romania. Tuba pursued her education in business administration at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University and later graduated from Bilgi University, specializing in photography and video.

Ünsal embarked on her modeling journey by participating in the 1998 Elite Model Look contest, where her striking presence caught the attention of many. This led to several commercial appearances and advertising campaigns, setting the stage for her transition into acting.
