Jan Kačer

Jan Kačer (October 3, 1936 – May 24, 2024) was a celebrated Czech actor and theater director, whose prolific career spanned over six decades. Beginning in the 1960s, he graced the screen in more than sixty films, showcasing his versatility and talent in various roles.

Kačer pursued his passion for the performing arts at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU), where he honed his skills in theatrical directing. His career in the theater included significant contributions as both an actor and director at notable venues such as The Drama Club and Theatre on the Balustrade, where he influenced many productions and nurtured emerging talent.

Beyond his artistic endeavors, Kačer engaged in public service as a parliamentary representative in the Federal Assembly from 1990 to 1992, reflecting his commitment to his country and its cultural landscape. He was married to actress Nina Divíšková, sharing a life intertwined with the arts.
