Ashlee Fidow, a talented stunt coordinator and performer hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, is a trailblazer in the stunt industry, representing her diverse Pasifika heritage, which includes Samoan, Chinese, English, and German roots. Raised in Avondale by her mother, who faced the challenges of rheumatoid arthritis, Fidow learned resilience from an early age.
Her passion for martial arts ignited at the age of eight, inspired by action legends like Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee. By 17, she achieved a 2nd-degree black belt in Taekwondo and showcased her skills in various national and international competitions, earning numerous gold and silver medals. Her martial arts training further expanded to include kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Filipino stick fighting, forming a solid foundation for her future career.
Fidow entered the stunt world in 2009 after a friend's encouragement led her to audition for a television series in search of new stunt talent. This pivotal moment sparked a decade-long journey in the industry, where she worked on renowned films such as "The Hobbit" trilogy, "Mulan," "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom," "Alien: Covenant," "The Meg," and "Avatar: The Way of Water." Her television credits include popular series like "Spartacus," "Ash vs Evil Dead," and "The Shannara Chronicles."
Beyond her on-screen work, Fidow has excelled as a stunt coordinator and trainer, imparting her knowledge of fight choreography and safety standards. Her dedication to her craft has garnered her several nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble, particularly for her roles in "The Hobbit," "Mulan," and "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power."
