David Summers Rodriguez
David Summers Rodríguez, born on February 26, 1964, in Madrid, Spain, is a renowned Spanish musician, best known as the lead vocalist and bassist of the iconic pop-rock band Hombres G. Growing up in the Chamberí neighborhood of Madrid, he was heavily influenced by his father's profession as a film director, Manuel Summers, and his uncle, journalist Guillermo Summers.
Summers rose to prominence in the 1980s when Hombres G released their self-titled album in 1985, solidifying their place as a key player in the Spanish music scene. Their popularity surged with the film “Sufre mamón,” which showcased the band’s music, followed by their film “Suéltate el pelo.”
In 1992, David married his lifelong partner, Marta Madruga, but faced personal loss the following year with the passing of his father. The band went on a hiatus in 1993, prompting David and guitarist Rafa Gutiérrez to pursue solo careers. In 1994, he released his first solo album, "David Summers," featuring collaborations with Alejandro Sanz and his wife.
His second solo album, "Perdido en el espacio," came out in 1997, showcasing a rockier sound, followed by a live album in 1998. His last solo project to date, "Basado en hechos reales," was released in 2001. In 2002, Hombres G reunited, releasing a compilation titled "Peligrosamente juntos," which led to a successful international tour. To this day, Hombres G continues to inspire new generations of musicians.
