Manorama, an iconic figure in Indian cinema, was born Gopi Shantha on May 26, 1943, in Mannargudi, located in the Tiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu. Her early life was marked by financial challenges, prompting her family to relocate to Pallathur near Karaikudi. At the tender age of 12, she embarked on her artistic journey as a drama performer. It was during this time that she was given the stage name Manorama by the drama director Thiruvengadam and the harmonist Thiayagarajan.
