Allen Swift, born Ira Stadlen on January 16, 1924, in New York City, was a celebrated American voice actor whose career spanned several decades until his passing on April 18, 2010. Renowned for his versatile voice work, Swift brought to life memorable characters such as Simon Bar Sinister and Riff-Raff in the beloved "Underdog" cartoon series. His talents extended to multiple roles in "The Bluffers," the enchanting underwater puppet show "Diver Dan," and in Gene Deitch's iconic Tom and Jerry cartoons from 1960 to 1962.

Swift’s career also included significant contributions to children's television, where he hosted "The Popeye Show" from September 10, 1956, to September 23, 1960, before parting ways with the program due to creative differences. He was a key voice behind the NBC classic "Howdy Doody Show," taking over the iconic character Howdy after Buffalo Bob Smith's health issues, and served as the show's second comedy writer.

In addition to his voice acting, Swift wrote the play "Checking Out." He was married to actress Lenore Loveman and was the proud father of character actor Lewis J. Stadlen, holistic health practitioner Maxime Stadlen, and psychotherapist Clare A. Stadlen. A Manhattan resident, Swift faced health challenges in later years, a journey shared by close friend and director Gene Deitch, who maintained a close connection with him throughout his life.
