Rosina Galli
Rosina Galli (August 10, 1906 – December 3, 1969) was a prominent Italian character actress whose career flourished in Hollywood during the 1930s and 1940s, where she featured in approximately 40 films.
Galli gained recognition for her performances alongside notable stars, including her role opposite Clark Gable in the 1941 film *They Met in Bombay*. She also appeared as Christine's maid in the classic horror film *The Phantom of the Opera* (1943) and played a memorable supporting role as the kind-hearted wife of J. Carrol Naish in the Academy Award-winning short film *Star in the Night* (1945), directed by Don Siegel. With her distinctive accent, Galli often portrayed maternal figures of Italian or Spanish heritage, typically in smaller roles that showcased her versatile acting skills.
After her Hollywood stint, Galli returned to Italy, where she acted in three additional films until 1950. Beyond her on-screen performances, she lent her voice to Italian dubbing for several renowned actresses, including Joan Crawford, Marie Dressler, and Myrna Loy, further showcasing her talents.
Rosina Galli passed away in 1969 in Madrid at the age of 63, leaving behind a legacy marked by her contributions to film and her ability to bring depth to her characters.
