Jay Hammer
Jay Hammer, born on November 16, 1944, is a distinguished American actor renowned for his portrayal of Fletcher Reade, a freelance journalist who develops a romantic relationship with Dr. Claire Ramsey on CBS Daytime's acclaimed soap opera, Guiding Light. His tenure on the show spanned from March 1984 to March 1998, with a brief return in the spring of 1999, culminating in a final appearance as the series concluded in 2009.
Before his significant role on Guiding Light, Hammer gained recognition for playing Allan Willis during the 1978-1979 season of the iconic sitcom The Jeffersons. His character was notable as the son of the mixed-race couple Tom and Helen Willis, portrayed by Franklin Cover and Roxie Roker, adding depth to the show's exploration of race relations.
