Gertrude Olmstead (November 13, 1897 – January 18, 1975) was a prominent American actress recognized for her contributions to the silent film industry. Throughout her career, she starred in 56 films from 1920 to 1929.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Olmstead made her first notable appearance in the 1921 film The Fox. That same year, she secured multiple roles, featuring in nine films and adding five more to her filmography in 1922. She achieved significant recognition for her performance alongside the famous Rudolph Valentino in the 1925 movie Cobra, which remains one of her most celebrated roles.

Her career flourished during the silent film era, particularly from 1925 to 1929, when she starred in an impressive twenty-eight films, frequently embodying the leading lady. However, with the transition to talkies, her acting career faced challenges, and she ultimately decided to retire in 1929.

In 1926, Olmstead wed MGM director Robert Z. Leonard, with their marriage taking place on June 8 of that year. The couple remained together until Leonard's passing in 1968.

Following her husband's death, Olmstead chose to stay in the Los Angeles area, where she lived until her own passing in Beverly Hills on January 18, 1975.
