His acting journey commenced in the late 1990s, with appearances in various television shows and films, including the 2001 features Along Came a Spider and Hearts in Atlantis. A pivotal moment in his early career came with his portrayal of Jacob Clarke in Steven Spielberg's miniseries Taken, paving the way for subsequent roles in the series Huff and films such as Terminator Salvation (2009), Charlie Bartlett (2007), and Fright Night (2011). He reprised his role as Chekov in Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), and Star Trek Beyond (2016).
