Kitty Aldridge, born in 1962, is a talented British actress and author. Her journey began in Bahrain, where she was born, before she honed her craft at the Drama Centre London. Aldridge has made her mark in film, theatre, and television, showcasing her versatile acting abilities.

In 2001, she ventured into the literary world with her debut novel, *Pop*, published by Cape (Vintage). This work garnered significant acclaim, earning a longlisting for the Orange Prize for Fiction in 2002 and a shortlist position for the Pendleton May First Novel Award the same year. Aldridge continued her literary pursuits with her second novel, *Cryers Hill*, released on March 1, 2007.

Her talent for storytelling was further recognized when her short story, *Arrivederci Les*, won the prestigious Bridport Short Story Prize in 2011. Aldridge's third novel, *A Trick I Learned from Dead Men*, was published in 2012 and was longlisted for the 2013 Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction, as well as being nominated for The Guardian's Not The Booker Prize in 2012.

On a personal note, Aldridge married renowned Dire Straits guitarist Mark Knopfler on Valentine's Day in 1997, in a romantic ceremony on the picturesque Caribbean island of Barbados.
