**Michael Kranz: A Brief Biography**

Michael Kranz was born and raised in a unique environment, as his father served as the senior physician at the Bad Schussenried Centre for Psychiatry. Growing up with three siblings in a service flat on the hospital grounds, he fostered a deep understanding of human behavior. His educational journey began at Studienkolleg St. Johann Blönried, where he graduated in 2003, and he later spent a transformative year on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, graduating from Red Cloud High School in 2001.

Kranz pursued his passion for the performing arts at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich, completing his acting training in 2008. He further honed his skills in documentary film directing and television journalism at the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film München, where he earned his diploma in March 2018.

His international film career includes notable appearances in acclaimed projects such as Michael Haneke's *The White Ribbon* (2009), Quentin Tarantino's *Inglourious Basterds*, and Steven Spielberg's *Bridge of Spies*. Kranz gained wider recognition through the television series *Hindafing*, portraying the character of city priest Kraus, which earned the Austrian film award Romy in 2018.

In addition to his acting, Kranz's creative work extended to directing, with his short film *myBorder's joyFence* receiving both the First Steps Award and the Porsche Award in 2018, showcasing his versatile talent in the film industry.
