Hando Runnel
Hando Runnel, born on November 24, 1938, in Liutsalu, Järva County, is a distinguished Estonian poet recognized for his significant contributions to literature. Runnel pursued his studies in agronomy at the Estonian Agricultural Academy from 1957 to 1962, which laid a foundation for his later endeavors.
Between 1966 and 1971, he played a vital role on the editorial board of the esteemed journal Looming, where he contributed to the cultural and literary discourse in Estonia. His influence in the literary community continued to grow, and since 1992, he has been serving as the chairman of the governing council at Ilmamaa Publishers, a prominent publishing house that has supported numerous authors.
Runnel is also known for his leadership as the chief editor of the series Eesti mõttelugu (Estonian History of Thought), which showcases the evolution of Estonian intellectual thought.
