Pirkka-Pekka Petelius
Pirkka-Pekka Petelius, born on May 31, 1953, is a versatile Finnish talent known for his work as an actor, director, producer, and screenwriter, as well as a singer with six music releases to his name. A prominent figure in Finnish politics, he was elected to the parliament in 2019 as a member of the Green League, garnering 6,331 personal votes, although he has since stepped away from parliamentary duties.
Petelius first captured the public's attention with his original contributions to Yleisradio's sketch show, Velipuolikuu, in 1983, which he both wrote and performed. This success paved the way for his rise as one of Finland's most beloved comedians, particularly through his performances in the sketch series Pulttibois and its sequel, Manitbois, alongside Aake Kalliala.
While he is primarily celebrated for his comedic roles, Petelius has also demonstrated his dramatic prowess in various film and television projects. Notable performances include his role as Hietanen in Rauni Mollberg's adaptation of The Unknown Soldier (1985) and appearances in Aki Kaurismäki's Hamlet Goes Business (1986), Åke Lindman's Lapin kullan kimallus (1999), and Peter Lindholm's Drakarna över Helsingfors (2001). Additionally, he showcased his vocal talents by providing the Finnish voice for Timon in the animated classic Leijonakuningas (The Lion King) in 1994.
