Preston's film career featured memorable roles in several notable movies. He portrayed John, the bum, in the critically acclaimed *The Fisher King* (1991), and took on the role of a blacksmith in *Horizons Lointains* (1992). He also played the flask mourner in *Family Business* (1989). His filmography continued to grow with appearances in *Waterworld* (1995), *Reckless* (1995), *Brooklyn Boogie* (1995), and *La Chasse aux Sorcières* (1996).

Born on August 26, 1921, in Columbia, Pennsylvania, Preston held a Master’s degree in English literature from Penn State, demonstrating his academic prowess alongside his artistic endeavors.
