M. Nassar is a prominent Indian film actor, director, and producer, primarily recognized for his contributions to the South Indian cinema. He currently serves as the president of the Nadigar Sangam, the actors' association in Tamil Nadu.

Nassar's journey in the film industry began in 1985 with his debut in K. Balachander's Kalyana Agathigal, where he played a supporting role. He quickly transitioned to more complex characters, gaining attention as a villain in S. P. Muthuraman's Velaikaran (1987) and Vanna Kanavugal. His career took a significant turn when he portrayed a police officer in Mani Ratnam’s critically acclaimed film Nayakan, which marked his breakthrough performance. Following this, he became a frequent collaborator with both Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan, showcasing his talent in memorable roles in films such as Roja, Thevar Magan (1992), Bombay (1994), and Kuruthipunal (1995).

Nassar ventured into directing with his debut film Avatharam in 1995, centered around a folk art troupe. Although the movie received positive reviews for its artistic merit, it did not achieve commercial success. Nevertheless, Nassar's versatile skills and commitment to the film industry have firmly established him as a respected figure in Indian cinema.
