Bobby Barber
Bobby Barber (December 18, 1894 – May 24, 1976) was a prominent American actor celebrated for his extensive contribution to cinema, featuring in more than 100 films throughout his career. Renowned for his unique comedic flair, Barber became closely associated with the legendary comedy duo Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, serving as a vital source of levity both on and off the set.
His role as a "court jester" was integral to the atmosphere of Abbott and Costello's productions, as he kept the cast and crew entertained with his playful antics and practical jokes. One memorable moment occurred in the classic film *Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein* (1948), where he humorously interrupted a scene, much to the delight of the crew. In this particular film, Costello is taken by surprise when the diminutive Barber, donning a whimsical hat adorned with a feather, strolls through the door instead of the expected Lon Chaney Jr.
In addition to his comedic roles, Barber frequently portrayed various minor characters such as delivery boys, waiters, and bellhops, often going uncredited. He made notable appearances in many of Abbott and Costello's films and television shows, sometimes even appearing as a picture or a "wanted" poster in the background. His final film appearance came in Lou Costello's last feature, *The 30 Foot Bride of Candy Rock* (1959), marking the end of a prolific and memorable career in the entertainment industry.
