Alfredo del Diestro, a prominent actor and film director, was born on October 7, 1885, in Valparaíso, Chile. He passed away in Mexico City in 1951. The son of Spanish merchant Juan del Diestro and Italian pianist Matilde Cavaletti, he spent his formative years in Havana alongside his family. In 1900, he returned to Colombia with a theatrical troupe he co-founded with his brother, Juan, known as the Juan del Diestro company. This company thrived in Colombia until 1903, after which it toured Central America and the Caribbean.

During his time in Havana, Del Diestro crossed paths with the celebrated Mexican actress Emma Roldán, whom he later married. His career took a significant turn in 1920 while performing at the Municipal Theater of Cali, where he connected with Francisco Antonio Posada. Together, they collaborated on the silent film *María*, with Del Diestro taking on roles in art direction, dialogue direction, and staging alongside co-director Máximo Calvo.

Returning to Mexico in 1924, Del Diestro continued to make his mark in the film industry. His most notable performance came in the 1936 film *Allá en el rancho grande*, which solidified his status in the cinematic landscape. Through his dedication and talent, Alfredo del Diestro left a lasting legacy in the world of film and theater.
