S. William Hinzman was a talented actor and director in the realm of horror cinema. Born Samuel William Hinzman, he began his career in 1968 as an assistant cameraman on the groundbreaking low-budget film "Night of the Living Dead," directed by George Romero. Hinzman's life took a pivotal turn when Romero cast him as the infamous zombie featured in the film's opening sequence. This role not only marked his entry into the horror genre but also earned him a devoted following, with fans affectionately dubbing him "No. 1 zombie."

Throughout the 1980s, Hinzman expanded his creative repertoire by both directing and starring in horror films, including "The Majorettes" (1987) and "FleshEater" (1988). His contributions to the genre were significant, showcasing his passion for storytelling and the macabre.
