Lexa Doig, born Alexandra Lecciones Doig on June 8, 1973, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is a noted Canadian actress celebrated for her work in television and film. Most recognized for her leading role as the title character in the science fiction-adventure series *Andromeda*, which aired from 2000 to 2005, Doig also gained fame as Rowan in the 2002 horror film *Jason X*, part of the iconic Friday the 13th franchise.

Growing up in a multicultural household, Lexa is the youngest child of Gloria B. Lecciones, a Filipino nurse from Dumaguete City, and David W. Doig, a Canadian engineer of Scottish and Irish heritage. She has notable connections in the martial arts community, being cousins with stunt performers Rey-Phillip Santos and Rowland Santos.

From a young age, Doig demonstrated a flair for the arts, launching her creative journey by writing and directing a school play at just six years old. Her passion for acting was ignited at nine when she saw an operatic performance of *Porgy and Bess*. While attending Don Mills Collegiate Institute, she pursued modeling, ultimately leaving school to focus on acting when she caught the attention of a talent agent at age 16.

Her early career included co-hosting the Canadian game show *Video & Arcade Top 10* alongside Gordon Michael Woolvett from 1991 to 2006, alongside her ongoing work in theater productions such as *Romeo and Juliet* and *Arsenic and Old Lace*.
