Lyudmila Cheshmedzhieva

Lyudmila Cheshmedzhieva is a celebrated Bulgarian opera singer and film actress, born on June 12, 1941, in the village of Marino, which was then part of Dimitrovgrad. Her artistic journey began in high school, where she engaged in choir singing, ballet, gymnastics, and art speech. She later honed her vocal talents at the Music Academy in Sofia under the guidance of Hristo Brambarov.

Cheshmedzhieva's professional career took off when she was invited by Svetozar Donev to perform in the operetta "The Girl I Loved" at the Musical Theater. Her impressive repertoire includes notable productions such as "The Queen of Czardas" and "Hello, Dolly," showcasing her versatility and talent on stage.

In addition to her theater accomplishments, she made her film debut as a student in "We Were Young." Over the years, she appeared in various films, including "The Peach Thief" (1964), "Children Play Outside" (1973), "The Assistant" (2002), and "The World Is Big and Salvation Lurks Around the Corner" (2008).

Cheshmedzhieva was a prominent soloist at the Musical Theater for many years, eventually becoming its Chief Manager in 1991. Her contributions to the arts have earned her numerous prestigious awards, solidifying her legacy as one of Bulgaria's most respected performers.
