Tom Brown

Thomas Edward Brown was an American child model who later transitioned into a successful career as a film and television actor. Born in New York City, he was the son of William Harold (Harry) Brown and Marie Francis Brown. Brown began modeling at the tender age of two, famously portraying Buster Brown, the Arrow Collar Boy, and the Buick boy. He received his education at the New York Professional Children's School and made his stage debut at just six months old, cradled in his mother's arms.

As an actor, Brown is perhaps best known for his role as the titular character in *The Adventures of Smilin' Jack* and for his portrayal of Gilbert Blythe in the 1934 adaptation of *Anne of Green Gables*. His television credits include appearances on popular shows such as *Gunsmoke*, *General Hospital*, and *Days of Our Lives*, along with a recurring role as Lt. Rovacs in *Mr. Lucky*.

During World War II, Brown served in the United States Army, advancing from private to lieutenant as a paratrooper in France. His valor earned him the French Croix de Guerre and a Bronze Star Medal. He later achieved the rank of captain with the 40th Infantry Division and served in the Korean War, ultimately becoming a lieutenant colonel.

Thomas Brown passed away in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, at the age of 77. In recognition of his contributions to the film industry, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960, located at 1648 Vine Street.
