Kevin Guthrie is a prominent Scottish actor, recognized for his diverse roles in film and theater. He gained significant acclaim for his portrayal of Ally in the musical adaptation "Sunshine on Leith" (2013) and brought depth to the character Ewan Tavendale in Terence Davies's cinematic work "Sunset Song" (2015). Guthrie also captivated audiences as Abernathy in the first two installments of the "Fantastic Beasts" franchise, appearing in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" (2016) and "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" (2018). His theatrical prowess was showcased in 2011 when he took on the lead role in Peter Pan at Glasgow's King's Theatre.

However, Guthrie's career took a significant turn when, in September 2020, he faced charges of sexual assault. Initially scheduled for a jury trial in January 2021, proceedings were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On April 16, 2021, following a four-day trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court, Guthrie was found guilty of assaulting a woman at the home of fellow actor Scott Reid in 2017. He was sentenced to three years in prison on May 14, 2021, and was placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely. An attempt to appeal his conviction was unsuccessful in November 2021. After serving a reduced sentence, he was released from HM Prison Dumfries in May 2022, though his conviction remained intact.
