Mairi Hronopoulou (Greek: Μαίρη Χρονοπούλου; July 16, 1933 - October 6, 2023) was an esteemed Greek actress celebrated for her contributions to cinema and theater, particularly during the vibrant 1960s. Born and raised in Athens, she graduated from the National Theatre School, where she not only honed her acting skills but also participated in dance ensembles and ancient dramas. Her film career commenced in 1954 with a minor role in Dinos Dimopoulos' *Happy Beginning*, while she was still a student.

Hronopoulou's breakout came in 1958 with a part in Michael Cacoyannis' *The Last Lie*. From 1963 onwards, she became a prominent figure at Finos Film, appearing in numerous dramatic films that solidified her status as a leading lady. She adeptly portrayed a range of characters, from innocent damsels to captivating femme fatales, sharing the screen with notable actors like Nikos Kourkoulos and Dimitris Papamichael. Additionally, she showcased her talent in three popular musicals directed by Yannis Dalianidis.

Her theatrical prowess led her to collaborate with major Athens troupes, and in 1972, she established her own company, staging acclaimed plays. Hronopoulou also made significant contributions to modern Greek cinema, featuring in Theodoros Angelopoulos' acclaimed works. Her performance in *The Swallow's Children* earned her the Best Actress award at the Thessaloniki Festival in 1987. In recognition of her illustrious career, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the IRIS Awards in 2021. Mairi Hronopoulou passed away on October 6, 2023, at the age of 90, leaving behind a rich legacy in the performing arts.
