Matthew Porretta
Matthew Charles Porretta was born on May 29, 1965, in Darien, Connecticut, into a notable family deeply rooted in the entertainment world. His father, Frank II, is a well-versed opera singer and actor, while his mother, Roberta, a trained vocalist, was crowned Miss Ohio in 1956. From an early age, Matthew immersed himself in the arts and, by the time he reached 25, he had already made a name for himself on Broadway and was honing his skills at the Manhattan School of Music.
Matthew's television career began to flourish in 1990 with recurring roles on popular series such as "Wings" and "Beverly Hills, 90210." His breakthrough in film came in 1993 when he played Will Scarlet O'Hara in Mel Brooks' comedic take on the legendary tale, "Robin Hood: Men in Tights." Ironically, just four years later, he would embody the titular character in his own television series, further establishing his presence in Hollywood.
Since 1997, Matthew has appeared in various independent films and has been featured in commercials for brands like McDonald's and Arrowhead Water. His artistic lineage continues with his four siblings, all of whom have pursued careers in the entertainment industry. His oldest brother, Frank III, is an acclaimed opera singer, while his brother Greg has made guest appearances alongside Matthew on-screen. His sisters, Anna and Roberta, also contribute to the creative world, with Anna working as a writer for "Talk Soup."
