Portia de Rossi is a prominent Australian-American actress, model, and philanthropist, celebrated for her compelling performances on both television and film. Born Amanda Lee Rogers on January 31, 1973, in Horsham, Victoria, Australia, she began her career in the entertainment industry at a young age, modeling and featuring in commercials. De Rossi made her film debut in the comedy *Sirens* in 1994, and shortly after moving to Los Angeles in 1995, she secured guest roles on various television series, including *Chicago Hope*.

Her breakout role came in 1998 when she was cast as Nelle Porter on the hit legal dramedy *Ally McBeal*, a performance that garnered her a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series and a Golden Globe nomination.
