Tika Sumpter
Euphemia LatiQue "Tika" Sumpter, born on June 20, 1980, is a talented American actress and producer known for her diverse roles across television and film. She began her career hosting the show Best Friend's Date before making a significant mark in the entertainment industry. From 2005 to 2010, Tika captivated audiences as a cast member of the daytime soap opera One Life to Live.
In 2010, she transitioned to film with her debut in Stomp the Yard: Homecoming, followed by notable performances in What's Your Number? (2011), Sparkle (2012), and A Madea Christmas (2013). Tika gained widespread acclaim for her portrayal of Candace Young in the OWN prime-time soap opera The Haves and the Have Nots, a role she held from 2013 to 2021.
Her film credits during this period include the action-comedy Ride Along (2014) and its sequel Ride Along 2 (2016), as well as the biographical drama Get On Up (2014) and the romantic comedy Nobody's Fool (2018). In 2016, she not only starred as Michelle Robinson Obama in the film Southside with You but also produced it, earning an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture.
From 2019 to 2021, Tika played a lead role in the ABC comedy series Mixed-ish. She further showcased her talent as Maddie Wachowski in the action-adventure film Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) and its sequels, along with appearances in the spin-off show Knuckles.
