Jason Impey

3 titles Directing Feb 26, 1984 Northampton, England, UK

Jason Impey embarked on his filmmaking journey at the tender age of 10, when he first picked up a camera and began creating independent short films that would later evolve into his thought-provoking and often controversial features. By 16, he was honing his skills at Bedford College, where he earned a GNVQ, A/S, and a BTEC National Diploma in media. His final student project, the intense art house short "The Evil Within," marked the beginning of a recurring theme in his work: the struggle with inner demons and self-harm.

At 19, Jason transitioned into the world of freelance filmmaking, embracing multiple roles such as directing, producing, writing, cinematography, acting, and editing. Due to budget constraints and the self-funded nature of his early projects, he often took on many production tasks himself, even appearing in numerous films, which led to opportunities in others' projects. His early work gained recognition, culminating in a Best Film award for the 2004 zombie flick "Zombies in the Wood."

After two years of producing successful short films, he directed his first feature, "Sick Bastard," which secured various DVD distribution deals. Known primarily for his contributions to the horror genre, Jason has also tackled impactful social dramas. He continues to adopt a raw, DIY approach to filmmaking, directing for TV and music videos, while also collaborating as a director of photography and editor. Alongside his creative ventures, Jason facilitates film workshops across the UK, empowering others to bring their visions to life through the art of filmmaking.
