Bart the Bear
Bart the Bear, an Alaskan Kodiak bear, was born on January 19, 1977, at the Baltimore Zoo. At just five weeks old and weighing a mere five pounds (2 kg), he was purchased by Doug and Lynne Seus, renowned animal trainers in the film industry. The Seuses utilized a positive reinforcement training approach, fostering a strong bond with Bart as they prepared him for a career in entertainment.
As a young cub, Bart made his television debut in the series The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams, where he portrayed Ben, the companion bear of the titular character. This early exposure set the stage for a successful film career.
Once he reached adulthood, Bart made his official film debut in the 1981 movie Windwalker. Over the years, he grew to an impressive height of 9 feet 7.5 inches (2.90 meters) and weighed around 1,500 pounds (680 kg). His remarkable size and friendly demeanor endeared him to audiences, and he became a beloved figure in the film industry.
