Karen Lancaume

1 title Acting Jan 19, 1973 Died: Jan 28, 2005 Lyon, France

Born Karen Bach in the vicinity of Lyon, France, Karen Lancaume hailed from an affluent background. With a French father and a Moroccan mother, she possessed a striking bi-racial beauty. At the age of 17, while pursuing her college education, she married. Despite her husband's career as a disc jockey and her weekend job at a nightclub, financial struggles led them into a considerable amount of debt. Seeking a quick and lucrative solution, they both ventured into the adult film industry in 1996. However, their marriage did not survive beyond their initial film together. Following their split, while her ex-husband exited the adult entertainment scene, Karen continued to work within it and soon found herself splitting her time between productions in Europe and the United States. She featured in a documentary titled Exhibition 99 (1998), which explored the lives of adult film performers. During the making of this documentary, she began to reconsider her career path. After starring in the provocative mainstream movie Baise-moi (2000), which included explicit sexual content, she gradually phased out of the industry, ultimately retiring in 2002. Tragically, Karen Lancaume passed away in Paris on January 28, 2005, at the age of 30. She took her own life by overdosing on prescription medication in her boyfriend's apartment.
