Kim David Henkel, born on January 19, 1946, is a prominent American screenwriter, director, producer, and actor, renowned for his contributions to the horror genre. His most significant achievement came when he co-wrote the screenplay for Tobe Hooper's seminal horror classic, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, which has left an indelible mark on the film industry since its release.

Henkel's directorial debut in the horror realm was the sequel, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, released in 1995, where he continued to explore the chilling themes introduced in the original film. Additionally, he played a pivotal role in the production and writing of the acclaimed film Last Night at the Alamo (1983), directed by Eagle Pennell, as well as adapting Hooper's Eaten Alive (1977).

In 2012, Henkel returned to his horror roots with Butcher Boys, a gruesome tale about cannibalism, co-directed by his former students Duane Graves and Justin Meeks. Prior to this, he had collaborated with them as a producer on their first feature, The Wild Man of the Navidad.

Most recently, Henkel produced the found footage horror film Found Footage 3D, which premiered on the horror streaming platform Shudder in 2017. Beyond his filmmaking endeavors, he has also shared his expertise as a lecturer in screenwriting at Rice University, inspiring the next generation of storytellers.
