Jiddu Krishnamurti

Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) is celebrated as one of the most influential philosophical and spiritual thinkers of the twentieth century. Born on May 11, 1895, in Madanapalle, India, he and his brother were adopted by Dr. Annie Besant, a prominent figure in the Theosophical Society. Initially heralded as a future world teacher, Krishnamurti's life took a pivotal turn in 1929 when he renounced this role, disbanded the Order of the Star in the East, and returned all associated funds and properties. He famously proclaimed that "Truth Is A Pathless Land," asserting that genuine understanding cannot be attained through organizations or doctrines but through self-exploration and interpersonal relationships.

For nearly sixty years, Krishnamurti traveled the globe, engaging large audiences in discussions about self-awareness and transformation. He had no permanent residence, frequently residing in Ojai, California, Brockwood Park in England, and Chennai, India. Throughout his life, he encouraged individuals to scrutinize their thoughts and emotions, emphasizing the importance of direct observation over intellectual analysis.

Krishnamurti's extensive body of work comprises over 100 million words, with more than sixty published books translated into numerous languages. Notable works include *The Ending of Time*, *Freedom from the Known*, *Commentaries on Living*, *Education and the Significance of Life*, *The Awakening of Intelligence*, and *The First and Last Freedom*. Upon his passing in 1986, he entrusted his Foundations with the mission of disseminating his unfiltered teachings worldwide, ensuring his legacy as a profound thinker endures.
