Lynn Toler
Lynn Candace Toler, born on October 25, 1959, is a prominent American attorney, judge, television arbitrator, and presenter, renowned for her extensive career in the legal and entertainment fields. She gained widespread recognition as the longest-serving arbitrator on the beloved courtroom series, Divorce Court, where she presided for 14 seasons from 2006 to 2020.
Toler's legal career began in Cleveland Heights, where she served as the sole municipal court judge for eight years, following her work as a civil attorney. At the age of 34, she made a remarkable political debut by winning her first judicial election by a mere six votes in a district dominated by Democrats, a testament to her determination and skill. In 2016, she transitioned from the Republican Party to become an Independent.
Her television career took off in the 2001-02 season when she succeeded Andrew Napolitano on the innovative courtroom show, Power of Attorney. Additionally, she appeared as a marriage counselor on The Ricki Lake Show. Toler also hosted Decision House on MyNetworkTV and contributed to NPR's News and Notes in 2008 and 2009. In 2009, she co-executive produced the limited series Wedlock or Deadlock, which stemmed from Divorce Court.
Outside of her courtroom roles, she co-hosts the series Marriage Boot Camp alongside Dr. Ish Major and has been hosting and executive producing We TV's Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars since February 2020, as well as the relationship show Commit or Quit. Toler continues to be a significant voice in both the legal and entertainment domains.
