Siti Zainab
Siti Zainab binti Kimpal (31 December 1935 – 21 August 2014) was an influential Malaysian-born Indonesian actress, singer, and dancer whose contributions to the arts left an indelible mark. Born in Sabak Bernam, Selangor, she was the eldest of three children in her family. After completing her education at junior and religious schools, she pursued a cooking course in West Sumatra before graduating from Sekolah Kepandaian Putri.
Zainab's artistic journey began with the Dardanella troupe, where she showcased her talents as an actress. In 1947, she joined the Bintang Berlian troupe in Palembang, South Sumatra, as both an actress and dancer. Her career took her to Singapore, where she signed with Shaw Brothers Studio, debuting in the film "Nasib" (1949) as a talented singer and dancer. Notably, she also starred in the film "Nilam" (1949) alongside P. Ramlee.
Throughout her career, Zainab featured in several films, including "Rachun Dunia," "Bakti," "Takdir Ilahi," and "Dewi Murni" (all in 1950). After returning to Palembang, she continued to perform with the Ratu Asia troupe before relocating to Jakarta, where her musical talents flourished with hits like "Sayang di Sayang" and "Hari Raya." She made her Indonesian film debut in "Taufan" (1952) and continued to make appearances in drama films until her final role in "Asrama Dara" (1958).
In 1956, Zainab married ulama Zakaria bin Muhammad Amin in Bengkalis, Riau, and they had seven children together. Following her husband's passing in 2006, Zainab enjoyed a quieter life until her death at 78 from a heart attack in 2014, leaving behind a rich
