Valentine John Bettin (July 8, 1923 – January 7, 2021) was a distinguished American actor celebrated for his distinctive use of an English accent across his diverse range of roles. Bettin gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Dr. David Q. Dawson in Disney's animated classic, The Great Mouse Detective, released in 1986. His talent extended to voicing the Sultan in The Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves, which were both direct-to-video sequels to the beloved film Aladdin, as well as in the accompanying television series, where he succeeded Douglas Seale in the role.
