Shania Twain
Shania Twain, born Eilleen Regina Edwards on August 28, 1965, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, is a renowned country music artist and actress. The youngest of three daughters in the Edwards family, she faced early challenges when her mother remarried Jerry Twain, an Ojibwa native who adopted her. Shania began her musical journey at a young age, performing in local bars and making her television debut on The Tommy Hunter Show at just thirteen.
Tragedy struck in her early twenties when she lost both parents in a car accident, resulting in her becoming the guardian of her half-brothers and sister. This responsibility temporarily sidelined her burgeoning music career. In 1991, she adopted the stage name Shania, which means "I'm on my way" in Ojibwa, and signed with Mercury Nashville Records. Her self-titled debut album went largely unnoticed, but it was her second album, produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange, that catapulted her to fame, shattering sales records.
Often hailed as "The Queen of Country Pop," Shania Twain is among the best-selling music artists in history, with over 85 million albums sold worldwide. She was married to Lange from 1993 until their divorce in 2010. Since January 1, 2011, she has been happily married to Frederic Nicolas Thiebaud, continuing to inspire fans with her music and resilience.
