Lau Ga-Yung
Lau Kar-Yung comes from a distinguished lineage steeped in martial arts and traditional Chinese culture. His grandfather, Lau Cham, was renowned for his remarkable strength, famously able to balance the lion's head during lion dances for extended periods. Lau Cham imparted his extensive knowledge of Hung Kuen, lion dancing, and Chinese herbal medicine to his children, ensuring the family's legacy continued.
As the son of Lau Cham’s second daughter, Lau Shiu-Yee, Lau Kar-Yung is also the nephew of prominent figures Lau Kar-Leung and Lau Kar-Wing, both of whom have made significant contributions to martial arts cinema and the preservation of traditional practices.
Currently, Lau Kar-Yung holds the esteemed position of Grandmaster of the Fifth Generation Wong Fei Hung Hung Kuen, a title that reflects his dedication and expertise in this revered martial art. His commitment to teaching and promoting Wong Fei Hung Hung Kuen has solidified his reputation as a key figure in Chinese martial arts today. Through his efforts, Lau Kar-Yung continues to honor his family's rich heritage while inspiring new generations to appreciate and practice these ancient disciplines.
